This is MC (Till) and I'm inviting you to respond to a need in our community....
THE STORY
...The Walnut Hills Fellowship is all about building lasting friendships with people. Twenty caring people have relocated to a crummy part of Cincinnati to love the poor. We live in a neighborhood where drugs are abused, education is sub-par, and many dads are absent. Before the age of 7, Cory has already seen his dad strung out on drugs, Devin has never seen his dad, and Michael just saw his mom for the first time in a long while after she was released from jail. We are here to love these kids and their parents. We go into their world (school, home, stores, street) and build authentic relationships. We encourage academic success through rigorous first grade interventions and we act as a big, surrogate family for many of our most vulnerable neighbors.
THE IMPACT
Over the past 4 years, we have worked in this manner with dozens of families. We cannot measure the value of these relationships with numbers, but we can tell you that we are making space for authentic relationships to happen. Cory and his mother have friends that will listen to their frustrations and advocate for them, Devin and his mother have parenting mentors to relieve the stress of a single-parent family, and Michael and his mother know they will have support as they learn to live together again. We are so thankful for these friendships, but there are so many other similar stories we are learning about every day.
We need your help to expand this work into the lives of 5 more families over the next 4 months.

The Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion Celebration was inaugurated in August 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is held annually the 3rd weekend of August at Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove.
Through the generous support of our sponsors we are able to offer the event to the public at no charge. The event has grown form the early days of 1989 to over 100,000 people of all ages on hand each year to enjoy the three days of activities
